Background & Experience

Sue has extensive experience handling complex litigation, including construction defect disputes, construction litigation, professional liability, general liability, business litigation, employment litigation, and personal injury defense in state and federal courts.  She is also experienced in bankruptcy and class action litigation. 

Education

Sue graduated from Chapman University's Dale E. Fowler School of Law, where she received her Juris Doctorate with an emphasis in environmental, land use, and real estate law.  She also served as an extern for the Honorable John E. Ryan (Ret.) and the Honorable John J. Wilson (Ret.) of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California.

Anton Jensen

Partner

Background & Experience

Anton "Tony" Jensen has a wealth of experience representing large and small businesses, business owners, and executives in numerous high stakes business disputes in both state and federal court.  Tony has litigated cases in the areas of partnership/breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, insurance coverage and bad faith, employment, consumer fraud, product liability, tax certiorari, intellectual property, and class action litigation.  Tony began his legal career at the internationally recognized firm Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson in New York, and the Orange County offices of Irell & Manella LLP and Arter & Hadden LLP. 

Education

Tony graduated from Harvard University in 1992 and from Harvard Law School in 1996.

Notable Achievements

  • Awarded $650,000 judgment in insurance broker malpractice trial, permitting client to rebuild its business facilities, which were destroyed in a fire.

  • Defended a top financial services executive in a high-profile federal trade secret theft investigation. Client was fully vindicated.

  • Defended a major international securities brokerage in an arbitration over interest rate swaps.

  • Successfully obtained an injunction against the California Department of Corporations preventing illegal regulation of escrow company banking practices.

  • Obtained a $300,000 settlement for the plaintiff in a racial discrimination employment arbitration.

  • Completed a complex large-scale construction loan foreclosure for a major bank.

  • Brought eviction proceedings against a famed 5th Avenue jeweler forcing settlement between the disputing heirs.

  • Won a $200,000 judgment for client in complex real estate contract dispute after a five-day jury trial.

  • Represented Lloyd's of London in appeals defending dismissals of U.S. securities suits.

  • Prosecuted an appeal of a $1 billion tax certiorari judgment, re Shoreham Nuclear Power Plant.

  • Won $165,000 judgment for client in a real estate joint venture breach of fiduciary case after a week-long jury trial.

Daniel Weis

Of Counsel

Background & Experience

Daniel specializes in corporate and partnership structuring, licensing, regulatory compliance and tax compliance and his clients include:  tech startups, real estate companies, small business owners, and players in the emerging cannabis industry.  Prior to law school, his previous career in commercial real estate transactions laid the ground work for his current transactional practice.   

Education

Daniel graduated from Whittier Law with a concentration in business and corporate law.  Driven by the desire to better serve his corporate clients and advance his understanding of tax law, he then pursued and obtained an LL.M. in taxation from Boston University, School of Law, a top 5 program.
